Eat These 4 Things For Healthy, Glowing Skin

We all know that having a quality skincare routine can help in our quest to achieving radiant skin, but have you heard the phrase "Beauty comes from within"? It's true! In this case we aren't just talking about having a dazzling personality. Of course the right products can do wonders for our skin, but also eating the right foods can give us that picture perfect, glowing skin we love, no filter needed.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Foods containing Omega 3 fatty acids are incredibly beneficial to your skin and hair for multiple reasons. They are hydrating, aid in hair growth by increasing certain protein activity, and with their anti inflammatory properties, they prevent premature skin aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Oysters, salmon, walnuts, flax and chia seeds are just a few delicious foods that are loaded with Omega 3s.

Omega-7 Fatty Acids

Omega-7 fatty acids are unsaturated fatty acids that help lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and support healthy blood sugar levels, and for added benefit they boost skin radiance. Omega-7 moisturizes skin on a cellular level and supports collagen regeneration. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body and helps skin stay supple and bouncy as well as reducing wrinkles and dryness. As we age, collagen depletes and we begin to lose our skin elasticity.

Sea Buckthorn is a nutrient-dense berry loaded with Omega-7 fatty acids, glow boosting vitamin C, and fat soluble and inflammatory antioxidants.

Antioxidants

Major antioxidants (vitamin A, C, and E) have an anti-aging effect and can strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, which in turn prevents damage caused by free radicals — aka sun and other environmental damage. This applies to sun burn, hyperpigmentation, freckling, wrinkles, etc. Antioxidants can also boost the strength of your skin’s collagen fibers. Antioxidant rich foods include: blueberries, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, sweet potato, grapefruit, oranges, and pomegranate.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E falls under the antioxidant category, however we’d like to dedicate it its own section because it’s a major player when you're on the quest for glowing skin. Vitamin E plays a role in skin health by decreasing collagen breakdown, helping to prevent and repair damage from UV exposure, and decreasing skin inflammation. Sunflower seeds, wheat germ, almonds, sunflower oil, safflower oil, hazelnuts, and spinach are great sources of vitamin E.
